絕對不會用克蕭（Clayton Kershaw）？道奇總教練羅伯茲（Dave Roberts）賽前的承諾，在4小時32分鐘的大戰中打破，今天在第9局推出克蕭關門，幫助道奇守住1分領先，以4：3擊敗國民，以系列賽3勝2敗收下國聯冠軍賽門票。
這是克蕭在2009年國聯冠軍賽第5戰後首度後援登板，成功收下最後2個出局數，拿下生涯第一個救援點；他也是史上第3位在殊死戰僅休息1天登板救援成功的先發投手。
克蕭在第4戰僅休3天登板，先發投110球，幫助道奇續命；今天賽前羅伯茲被問到此役是否會看到克蕭上場時，他的回答簡潔有力：「絕對不會（absolutely not）」。
兩隊在第7局共用8名投手，調度沒完沒了，當時美國媒體已在猜測克蕭是否會後援登板，緊盯他的一舉一動，注意他身上穿的是帽T或熱身衣，人出現在板凳區或牛棚裡，果然最終看到他在9局上穿著熱身衣走進牛棚。
9局下，國民攻佔一、二壘，道奇決定換掉已用51球的終結者簡森（Kenley Jansen），將克蕭送上投手丘，而他連續解決墨菲（Daniel Murphy）和狄佛（Wilmer Difo），沒讓勝陽台漏水利溜走。
